Hi! I’m Lauren, a high school student at The Ursuline School in New Rochelle. At school, I stay pretty busy as a student ambassador and Peer Connections leader, as well as president of National English Honor Society (NEHS), co-president of the Gaelic Society and We Are TUS. I’m also an NEHS tutor, and president of NHS. One of my favorite roles is being an ambassador for the Cereal Effect, where I help support our school’s initiative to give back to those in need. Outside of school, I’m involved with Primera Hispana Church in Yonkers, where I’ve organized a Christmas toy drive since 2020. For fun, I've been Irish dancing since I was four years old. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of qualifying for the World Championships seven times, placing 2nd in my region, 5th in North America, and 26th in the world—putting me in the top 1% of Irish dancers worldwide. I'm now studying for my exams to teach dance. One of the most meaningful things I’m part of is our Bear and a Book Project. I love connecting with young children, sharing stories, and bringing a little joy into their day. After graduation, I plan to study English and business, combining my passion for writing, communication, and leadership. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me!
Hi, I'm Peyton! I'm currently a senior in high school, and I hope to study sport administration/management, business, and psychology in college. Outside of A Bear and a Book, I'm a field hockey goalkeeper and have been on the varsity team at my school since freshman year, making All League and All Section this year. I have also done Taekwondo since I was seven, and used to do competitive sparring. Fun fact: I was state champion in New York and Connecticut and a three-time national qualifier! I also volunteer with the Hillcrest Challengers League, a local adaptive sports program for children with special needs. My favorite subject in school has always been English, and my favorite book is either The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton or Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reed. My favorite children's book, however, is Knight Owl by Christopher Denise. Inside of School, I'm a Student Ambassador, and a part of two clubs: Alex's Lemonade Stand and Italian Society. I'm also a member of the National Honor Society and social media manager for National English Honor Society. Thank you for supporting our project!
